1. Accuracy
We make reasonable efforts to verify factual information before publication.
When a story contains important factual claims, we seek to rely on reliable sources and, when possible, primary sources such as:
- government documents;
- official statements;
- court records;
- public data;
- company or organizational records;
- academic research; and
- direct statements from relevant individuals or organizations.
When information is developing or remains uncertain, we try to make that uncertainty clear to readers.
2. Facts, Claims and Allegations
We distinguish between established facts and claims made by individuals or organizations.
This distinction is particularly important when covering:
- legal disputes;
- political controversies;
- religious disputes;
- accusations of misconduct;
- corporate controversies; and
- other disputed matters.
A person’s allegation is not presented as an established fact merely because it appears in a public filing, interview, statement or news report.
When appropriate, we identify who made a particular claim and whether the claim has been independently established.
3. Primary Sources
Whenever practical, we prefer original or primary sources.
These may include official government websites, court documents, official corporate statements, statistical agencies, regulatory records and direct statements from organizations or individuals involved in a story.
Secondary sources may also be used to provide context or report developments.
When an important claim depends on a specific source, we may provide a link to that source so readers can review the underlying information themselves.
4. Attribution
We identify information according to its source whenever attribution is important to understanding the story.
For example:

or:
The court record states…
or:
[Organization] said in a statement…
Attribution is especially important when information is disputed, preliminary or based on a source’s own reporting.
5. News, Analysis and Opinion
Not every article on Real-Time Korea Story is intended to be straight news reporting.
Our content may include:
- news reporting;
- explanatory articles;
- background articles;
- analysis;
- commentary; and
- opinion.
We aim to make the nature of an article clear from its presentation and wording.
Analysis and opinion should not be confused with independently established facts.
6. Corrections and Updates
If we discover a material factual error, we will correct it when appropriate.
When a story changes because new information becomes available, we may update the article and identify the update when it is useful to readers.
We do not consider a correction or update to be a failure of journalism. Correcting the record is part of maintaining an accurate publication.

7. Headlines
Headlines should accurately reflect the content of an article.
We may use concise, descriptive or engaging headlines, but we do not intentionally use a headline that materially misrepresents the article.
Questions in headlines may be used when an article examines a genuine question or controversy. A question in a headline should not be interpreted as an assertion that the proposition is established fact.
8. Quotes
Quotes should represent the source’s words accurately and in context.
We do not intentionally alter a quotation in a way that changes its meaning.
Where necessary, surrounding context may be provided to help readers understand the quotation.
9. Images
We aim to use images that are relevant to the subject of an article and that we have permission or an appropriate basis to publish.
Images may be provided by official sources, licensed sources, contributors or other authorized sources.
When an image requires attribution, appropriate credit should be provided.
10. Conflicts of Interest
Real-Time Korea Story seeks to maintain editorial independence.
Coverage of a company, political figure, church, religious organization, artist, entertainment company or other entity does not constitute endorsement.
Where a material conflict of interest could affect the credibility of an article, we seek to disclose it when appropriate.
11. Sponsored or Commercial Content
Editorial content should be distinguishable from advertising, sponsorship or other commercial material.
Commercial relationships should not be presented as independent editorial reporting.
Any sponsored or promotional content should be identified appropriately.
12. Reader Feedback
Readers may contact us regarding factual errors, missing context, source information or other editorial concerns.
We welcome credible information that can help improve an article.
